CLAN 2013 LOOKBOOK “THE PRISM COLLECTION”

It’s stylist, cool and fabulous colour and importantly wearable. These are the few words I can use to describe the uniqueness of Clan 2013 Autumn/Winter collection.
In conception, we were inspired by the minimalist culture that is currently trending. Minimalism is described as any design or style in which the simplest and fewest elements are used to create the maximum effect. Da Vinci famously said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication”.
Designing from the zesty city of Lagos, we are surrounded by constant activity and change. Lagos has recently been adorned with new glass high-rise buildings and sophisticated structures such as our first ever suspension bridge that was erected late last year. We have in this light, drawn inspiration from these simple structures which feature clean lines, basic shapes and natural textures and colours but are nevertheless striking and picturesque. By eliminating all non-essential forms, features and concepts, this collection will show that fewer elements can be used to create a maximum effect.
Expect, structural pieces, almost like sky scrapers but with curves as they skilfully infused coloured panels to enhance the wearer’s best assets – African curves. The colours are optical whites, greys, browns, dusky pinks and the occasional bold use of red and oranges. The use of metallic fabrics almost like light shining on Lagos’ tallest buildings at night.  Yes, this collection is young and fresh but its grown up sexy and I’m in LOVE.
