The
maiden edition of FASHION ICON AWARDS that was held on Saturday, 6th of
September, 2014, at the plush La Palm Beach Hotel, Accra, has come and gone,
the fact remains that it left participants with such a memorable moments of
glitz and glamour; celebration of
African designers, models and music.
The night was filled with lots of
excitements; started with VVIP treatment of the Hosts, Brand Ambassador and
some dignitaries cruising Limousine and other luxury cars with escorts.
The event which was graced by the crème de
la crème in fashion, entertainment industry and other dignitaries like the
distinguished British High Commissioner - Jon Benjamin, UNAIDS Country Director - Girmay Haile, King
of Igbo in Ghana - Chuks Ihenetu, Vlisco brand ambassador - Eugenia
Tachie-Menson, Nana Tiaah Darkoa I, and Ministry of Tourism representative.
Among other notable celebs that made appearance at the event are Selassie Ibrahim, Ruff-n-Smooth, DKB, Praye, Elikem, Selly, Peace Hyde, Claudia Lumor, among others.

The 25 feet long Red Carpet was busy
throughout the event with interviews and photograph from different media
houses. It had a colourful ambiance of excellence.
Artistes that performed included Wiyaala
Noella, Sala, Chemphe, Alberto. Rib cracking comedians
like Hogan, Baba Spirit and Elaff all kept the mood alive.
Models strutted the runaway with Ghanaian ace designer Allan David of Allan David Collection and Patrick Asante of House of Eccentric exquisite designs.

The awards presentations began with special
recognition award to Ernest O. Look for promoting and putting Ghana’s name on
international platform. Fashiongh TV was recognized for promoting Ghanaian
designers and models and Victoria Michaels for being Brand Ambassador for this
year’s event.
