Olatide Adeniyi is a creative Nigerian/American designer of Editalo designs which was launched in 2009.
Olatide (Tide) Adeniyi was born in Washington D.C where she spent her childhood. She moved to Lagos, Nigeria during her teenage year and acquired an appreciation and passion for the arts while attending high school. In 2002, She returned to the Washington D.C. area to attend university. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and currently works full time as a senior financial analyst as she explores her creative side.
Her inspiration for fashion design came in 2007 as a sporadic thought to make her own dress for an event because she could not find a dress that had the perfect fit. She purchased her first sewing machine and began bringing her first sketch to life. The garment was a success, so she began designing and sewing as a hobby making it apparent that this should be her next business venture.
Editalo designs was launched in July 2009 with BLOOM fashion show. Bloom was also inspired by Editalo’s 2010 debut collection as it contained floral prints and floral inspired silhouettes in all 3 collections exhibited.
She showcased her work during the African fashion week in New York and even made it to the front page of the style section of the Washington post last summer. She describes her new 2012 spring/summer collection as "Playful, flirty and fun with a hint of subtle glamour".
The collection stays true to Editalo’s style making use of high waistlines and full skirts incorporating traditional fabrics with modern-day silhouettes.
