CHRISTIE BROWN PRESENTS AUTUMN/WINTER 2012/2013 LOOKBOOK “XUTRA”

Christie Brown is a Ghanaian based luxury women’s fashion brand that aims to satisfy the stylish urge of “that modern woman who seeks a true taste of Africa”.

The label infuses modernism into carefully selected African aesthetic that goes beyond international borders. The label started in March 2008 and today it stands uniquely as a women’s apparel and accessories manufacturer and retailer with pieces ranging from beautiful bespoke gowns to innovative accessories, all inspired by the African culture and art.

The brand has had many collections under its belt, the latest is this Autumn/Winter 2012/13 tagged “XUTRA” that was showcased on the Arise Magazine Fashion Week last March in Lagos.

According to Aisha Obubi, Creative Director of Christie Brown the inspiration for this collection comes from the fact that “The artistic fashion world constantly feeds on freedom of expression and need for experimentation. It is only the forced control in ‘structure’ that allows art to emphasize how sophistication and complexity in detail can co-exist with simplicity, discipline and bare bone basics. Underneath the asymmetric structures of the XUTRA garments, lives sheer fluidity and movement. Just as architectural plans serve a functional and esthetic purpose, this collection showcases the true intention of both function and fashion: multi-dimensional, yet wearable. For Christie Brown, this collection represents the essence of our “XUTRA”.
