MAKSI Clothing, a “fab, fresh, and funky’ African inspired clothing line will be one of two designers ‘popping up’ at the African Regent’s ‘I Pop-Up’ Design Shop from Thursday 27th September to 10th October 2012. The Afropolitan African Regent is the perfect ambience for the cosmopolitan African who wishes to shop in its stylish, unique boutique.
MAKSI’s relationship with the African Regent goes back to the 27th of November 2009 when the fashion house launched at the venue to popular acclaim. Sisters Abena and Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah are the individuals behind MAKSI. Abena serves as Head of Creative Concepts with Nana Darkoa holding responsibility for Business Development. Thomas Dzator is Menswear Designer.
The theme for MAKSI’s current collection is “African Fashion Goes Global” with pieces consisting of print cropped tops, palazzo trousers, and long chiffon skirts for women. Men can select from a range of tailored shirts, formal kaftans and casual cottons. MAKSI has been featured in local and international media including ARISE Magazine, DSTV, New African Woman, DUST Magazine, and VIASAT 1.
