GHANA FASHION & DESIGN WEEK....DAY2 REVIEW

Sorry guys my Day2 review is a bit late. Just up and down somewhere but am back.

Day2 started with seminar as scheduled. Jacqueline Shaw, founder and director of African Fashion Guide discuss Ethical fashion in Africa which was followed by Dr. Richard Boateng that talks on development and promotion using social media. I must say, the two speaker really know what they are talking about and I hope to learn more from them. I left after the second speaker because I needed to catch up with another programme though there are three more speaker to discuss other issues.

Starting late is not a big deal anymore so let me talk about the main catwalk show.
Day2 was more fun and well coordinated just as if the organizers read my first Day1 review. Separate entrance was created for VIPs, Media and Celebrities and regular on the other side. The runway carpet was also adjusted using the front roll seat to hold it down and the edges was tape down. Very impressive

I also notice that more ushers was added to the hall to coordinate the sitting arrangement as well as control the movement. The music and lighting crew also be at their best. Bravo

Mina Evans opens the catwalk show presenting simple, elegant and classic collection. Brigitte Merki (Ghana), Alali Boutique (Nigeria), 1981 (Italy) followed in that other and Coccololy (Canada) close the part one show with the collection I named sexy, saxy and sensational.

20minutes recess was observed to network and the second part of the show commenced with fabulous suit from creative and talented trio from UK, Morts & More label and UK based Nigeria Mimi Lee London followed. Campaign for wear made in Africa next by African Fashion Guide-Trade not Aid based in UK by Jacqueline Shaw and Christie Brown Ghana close the show with her ready to wear fantastic collection.

But the questions people have been asking me are; What is the purpose of this fashion week if home base designers are not there? Does this show really achieve it purpose according to the campaign of the organizers? Some even ask is it a London Fashion Week in Ghana? Because majority of the designer that showcase are from UK and just little clothes we see on the runway with touch of African print and that led me to write my next article WHAT WENT WRONG AT GHANA FASHION & DESIGN WEEK?
