BEAUTY TIPS: LIPS AND LIPSTICK

Now it’s time to answer some of the questions have been receiving on make-up tips after discussing it with some expert.

How to make your lipstick last longer?

To keep your lips going all day, first pencil all over lips with a soft lip pencil. (A shade that is similar to the lipstick you are going to be applying) Apply lipstick over and blot.

How to achieve fuller lips?

To make lips look fuller, line lips with a pencil and then blend the edges with a sponge applicator. Cover with gloss or petroleum jelly.

How to get that pouty lip look?

Excentuate your top lip by dabbing just a touch of gloss in the center.

Highlight your lips with a very light eye shadow color that coordinates with your lip color tones. Place it right in the center of your upper and lower lips.

Are you trying to deemphasize your full lips?

If your lips over-power your face be selective with your lipstick. Try neutral tones and don't wear any lip color that is too glossy or shiny.

Don't use lip liner, but if you like the look, soften edge with your finger.

Do you have uneven lips?

To balance unevenly shaped lips, use a lighter colored lipstick on the smaller-sized lip. (Remember lighter brings things out!) 

Is using a product like Chapstick addictive?

No. Chapstick is not addictive.  It seem like it is but that's probably more psychological. To avoid dry lips try not to lick them so often. Avoid lip products with salicylic acid which can dry lips out.

Keeping lips moist in the winter is tough. One reason they are more vulnerable than other parts of our face is because they don't have oil glands. Emollients like Vaseline and Chapstick or wax-based balms help seal lips again the elements. Many products claim to be medicated which is often not really an accurate claim. Blistex has 0.5% phenol, which actually does qualify as "medicine". The trouble with phenol and other added ingredients such as camphor or menthol is that they can irritate sensitive lips.
