FASHION TRENDS: CONSERVATIVE SWIMWEAR

The season characterised by heat, haze and harmattan is no other than what we Nigerians like to call, dry season.  As much as we complain of the dusty furniture or the flu, we all love this season especially because, like the summer season overseas, it is ideal to go swimming (for those that like to swim).  Some people would love to go swimming but they are kind of shy about showing off some skin. If you want to go swimming but lack confidence when it comes to flaunting your physique, here are some tips to help you become less self-conscious in a one-piece swimsuit.
Trying to conceal a bulging belly/abdomen? These great Bandeau Tanks are just what you need.

Uncomfortable with exposing your thighs? Try one of these cute Swim Dresses.
Feeling very busty in a normal swim suit? Why not try one with a deep V-neck or ruffles or a combination of such features like the one below:
Other ways to stay partially covered include the use of cover-ups like tunics or beach wraps (crochet, apple-stitched, solid or see through).
Guys, hope you’re not feeling left out? Well, don’t be. Normally you use trunks to swim but a hot new trend for guys is broad-shorts – this type goes below the knee.
Most of these swim suits may seem unorthodox in this part of Africa but that doesn’t mean just any shorts or mini gown would do. Male swim suits should be made from polyester or nylon while female swim suits should be made from Nylon, Spandex/Lycra or preferably a combination of both. In general, find a suit that expresses your personal style and still provides acceptable amount of coverage. Whatever you do, feel free to make the most of this dry season.
