SEE THE LINE UP FOR SWAHILI FASHION WEEK & NOMINEES FOR SFW AWARDS IN DECEMBER

 The sixth annual Swahili Fashion Week gets underway in Dar es Salaam from December 5th to 8th..
The event will collectively bring together 40 designers from within Tanzania and beyond to showcase their collections, predicting trend for the East African market for year 2014.
“Swahili Fashion week this year is aimed at reaching out to the public to emphasize and promote talents in the fashion industry. It’s more about valuing our own designers and building brands and taking them to a different level year in year out”, said Washington Benbella the event’s manager.
Ahead of the event a launch party was held at Golden Tulip hotel in Dar es Salaam last weekend and attended by stakeholders in the design industry. CLICK HERE TO SEE THE LAUNCH PARTY PHOTOS 
During the party, designers expected to showcase their products at this year event were unveiled.
Notable prominent figures include Tanzanian designers Gabriel Mollel, Asia Idarus, Zaidi Africa, Ailinda Sawe, Jamilla Vera Swai, Martin Kadinda, Lucky Creations, Keramiti, Dominic Godfrey, Annisa Abayas, Mgege Makory, Yechi aand Yuchi, Catherine, H and A Dress to Impress, PSJ Couture, Hadija Mwanamboka, 2Heads by Atsu, Na Kadhalika and Eskado Bird.
Others lined up for the show are Kiki’s Fashion, Malleni Designs, Can Wera Designs and Wera from Tanzania, ESK, Eve Collections, Jasmine Greca Sinare and Hameed Abdul.
International designers drawn for the show are Mo Creations, Estelle Mantel Clothing and Culture, Kutowa Designs (Zambia), Achera Designs Home, Walove, Michelle Ouma, Afrostreet Kollektion and Lulu Philista Onyango (Kenya), Palse South Africa (SA), Suhaa Schmitz (Rwanda), Cycnthia Schimmming, Taati Sibolile Maison and Hafeni Frans (Namibia), Chizika (Czech Republic), Carla Silva (Angola),Terrance Chipembelle and Yvonne Ndawana (Zimbabwe) and Uagnda’s Arapapa By Santa Anzo.
The third Swahili Fashion Week Awards nominees were also made public with new three dynamic categories included.
The categories with their nominees are;
Best Female Model who are Neema Mbuya, Macrida Joseph, Evanuru Isack, Jocelyne Maro, Lethyna Christopher and Winfrida Dominic

Best Male Models: Richard Melkiory, Lotta Mollel, Danny David, Gerald Nicasand Dietrich Sumayi.

Best East African Model: Kenyans ?Gloria Baraza, Hivita Rogato, Emo Rugene and Ugandan Anna Kwagala.

Designer of Year: Eskado Bird,?Sheria Ngowi, Eve Collection, Mgece Makory amd Vera Swai.

Hair & Make Up: Amy & Emy, ?Rehema Samo, Shamona & Shamsa and Edna Ndibalema.

Accessory designer of the Year: Fahari Zanzibar, Sphinx Africa, Sairiamu Designs, Enjipai Jewellery, Uru Diamonds and Doreen Mashika.

East African Designer of the Year: Suhaa Schmitz (Rwanda), Jamil Walji, Moo Cow and Kiko Rombo (Kenya) and Santa Anzo (Uganda)

Best Men’s Wear Designer: Mtani Nyamakababi, Mtoko Designs, Manju Msita and Sheria Ngowi

Upcoming Designers: Kali Elegance, ?PSJ Couture, Yechi & Yuchi, Catherine Mlowe and Dominique Godfrey.

Innovative Designer: Ally Rehmtullah, ?Mama Momella, Schwari Collectables, Magesa and Manju Msita.

Stylish Female Personality: Jacqueline Ntuyabaliwe, ?Vanessa Mdee, Jacqueline Cliff, Fancy Nkuhi and Jokate Mwegelo.

Stylish Male Personality: Kenny Francis, Ommy Dimpoz, Mohammed Dewji, ?B Dozen and Osse Greca Sinare.

Fashion Blog of the Year: La Princessa, Sheria Na Mavazi, Missie Popular and Gyver La Trend.

Fashion Photographer of the Year: Gavin Gosberth - Black N White, Emmanuel Mboma –Viwalo, Ali Akber Zoeb - AZH Photography, ?Osse Greca Sinare -OGS Studios and Akbar Thabeet –SlideVisuals

Fashion Journalist of the Year: Giver Meena- Bang Magazine, Caroline Uliwa- The Citizen, Maimuna Kubegeya-Mwananchi, Masembe Tambwe - Daily News and Rio Paul- The Citizen.

Best East African Journalist: Kenyan trio of ?Silvia Njoki, Mwikali Lati and Franklin Saiyalel, Ugandan duo of Keturah Kamagusa and Gloria Haguma.

Fashion TV Program: Designing Africa- Africa Magic, Sights & Sounds-Capital TV, Mashariki Mix-M Net and Nirvana-EATV.

Stylist of the year: Missie Popular, ?Rio Paul, Eskado Bird, Rosemary Kokuhilwa and Martin Kadinda.
