AIRTEL STAFF SET TO STRUT RUNWAY TO RAISE FINDS FOR CHARITY + AMEYO, SEYI JONES & OTHERS TO SHOWCASE

Airtel Ghana will this weekend stage its first ever internal Corporate Social Responsibility project called ‘Catwalk for Charity’ aimed at using fashion to raise funds internally through Airtel staff, family and friends to support Airtel’s CSR activities. The fashion show, which will feature Airtel employees and some management members on stage as models, is also intended to showcase the designs of budding underground fashion designers.
The show, which is part of the company’s internal CSR campaign called ‘Make a Difference Day’ (MADD), is expected to bring in enough funds to support a collaboration between Airtel Ghana and an NGO called World Reader, to help purchase Kindle e-readers for students in marginalized communities.
Fashion designers to be featured on ‘Catwalk for Charity’ include Ameyo, Threadex, M&K Wear, Shik Collection, Eye Candy, Seyi Jones, Mystic Beads by Mercy as well as Adoley Clothing. Complimenting these designers will be up and coming makeup Artist such as Pixie Dust, Limarj and Shades by Dede. The exciting part will be the outdooring of Airtel Ghana’s Friday wear.
This unique event will be held at the forecourt of Airtel Ghana’s Office and will see three lucky guests winning accessories worth GHC20,000. It will be a meeting place for socialites, fashion representative and selected VIPs to mingle, network, unwind and most especially raise funds for charity.
Maame Dufie Cudjoe, CSR Manager at Airtel Ghana said: “Adoley Designs, Eye Candy, Ameyo, Seyi Jones, Shik Collection, M&K Wear as well as Threadex, Mystic Beads by Mercy, our staff volunteers and models have been incredible and a great help to us in organising this event.  We hope that this will bring people together in the spirit of raising funds towards eradicating illiteracy while enjoying quality entertainment. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming everyone to the show!”
Commenting on the show, the Corporate Communications and CSR Manager of Airtel Ghana, Donald Gwira said, Airtel encourages its employees to actively participate in CSR activities. “For us, employees play a key role in our CSR. The Make a Difference Day initiative, for example, is an internal CSR and employee engagement project aimed at getting employees involved in their local communities by identifying and supporting sustainable projects within these communities”, he explained, adding that the funds to be raised at the ‘Catwalk for Charity’ was to go towards one such project.
