THE annual FADAN Talent Hunt, organized by the Fashion Designers
Association of Nigeria (FADAN), enters its fifth season this year with
calls for entries from talented young designers who want to take their
career to the next level.
The talent hunt is targeted at young designers across the country, to provide them a platform to be seen in order to expose them and enrich their knowledge.
This year’s event, which holds from November 22 to 23, is a two-day event that will start with a seminar for the young designers on the first day and the 25th Award Night for patrons who have supported the event and unveiling of the Talent Hunt winner on the second day.
The winner of this year’s event will receive N200, 000 cash prize, factory equipment to start off or expand an existing business and an Enterprise Development Training with W-Holistic Business Solution. The first and second runners up will receive N150, 000 cash prize, factory equipment to start off or expand an existing business, Enterprise Development Training with W-Holistic Business Solution and a three-month. Other finalists will also receive scholarships to train in a fashion school in Nigeria.
At a media chat to announce the onset of this year’s event in Lagos, FADAN President, Prince Idowu Oyefusi said: “We want the finalists to know that designing is a business, hence we are having a big class attached to the winning prizes to enable them to learn and know how to make profit in their business.”
“Over 100 designers will come together to make this a success,” he said. Some first generation designers such as Labanella, Jimi King, Folorunsho Alakija, Maufechi and a host of others will also be honoured at the event.
Lead sponsors of the event are Da Viva, Isis Models, Galaxy TV, Bisi Olatilo, 5D Images, W-Holistic Business Solution among others.
