EX-BEAUTY QUEEN INNA PATTY OPEN UP ON WHY SHE CHOSE STREET FOR MISS GHANA 2012 FASHION SHOW

 Miss Ghana beauty pageant recently wow everybody with first of its kind fashion show is the history of pageantry in Ghana as they shuts Osu, Oxford Street in Accra down with music, fashion and style. The beautiful contestants hit the runway for a street fashion show Styled in afro-centric evening gowns, jackets and pants, beachwear and jewellery, the 19 finalists strutted their stuff on the runway for the invited guests and onlookers that had gathered on the busiest Oxford Street to witness the fashion extravaganza.

In an interview with the ex-beauty queen Inna Patty now the CEO of Exclusive Event Ghana, the organizer of Miss Ghana beauty pageant, she explains to me why they chose to do the show on the street. Enjoy the chit chat.

Why Street and not any of the luxury hotel in town?

Firstly, we chose to do it on the street because Miss Ghana is a brand that every Ghanaian have stake in it and it represent Ghana globally.  We felt we shouldn’t exclude people from what we do that is why we take it to the street for the brand owners to enjoy it.  

Secondly, to celebrate our talented designers who are doing amazing work but they are not been patronise because people don’t know them. Taking the show to the street will really expose them and people will get to see the creativity in them.

Thirdly, ATL as official fabrics sponsor for Miss Ghana 2012 also need to be celebrated, acknowledged and appreciated after 30 years of producing quality fabrics.

Also to bring the contestants close to the people to interact with them so that they can get to know who to vote for to become the next Miss Ghana.

Lastly, Night life in Ghana is just one way and we felt like doing something different to create fun for people and God willing next year, it’s going to be more bigger.

How did you manage to control the thousands of crowd and the movement of the cars considering using one of the busiest streets in Accra? “Oxford Street”

That will tells you that our law enforcement agencies are really good at their job. What we did was write to them, informing them about what we want to do and seek for their support along with official private security company for Miss Ghana which is Eden security. They work hand in hand to manage the situation around.

You said one of the reasons why you choose street is to bring talented fashion designers to limelight, In your opinion, what do you think the industry can do to further promote upcoming designers?

Miss Ghana is an annual event and we would be showcasing emerging designers every year but in a bigger picture, I think ministry of culture or tourism should step in to help.
