THE KITENGE FASHION FESTIVAL CELEBRATED IN STYLE

It was all about Kitenge at the Village market last Saturday in Kenya. The inaugural Kitenge festival was taking place and fashionistas did not disappoint. There were vibrant colours all round and in different designs.
Some of the stands were, yaka yeke, Kazuri, Tropical Muse, Otenge just to name but a few. the theme being Kitenge was the fashion statement of the day and surely the audience was full of life.
One of the things that stood out was that it was also a platform for young designers to give their best and show off their talent.

The event, organised by Nairobi VIP and sponsored by Capital FM was aimed at bringing together African fashion designers and lovers and also celebrate African culture and music. Models dressed in colourful Vitenge dresses wowed the spectators when they took to the catwalk, showing off various designs of Kitenge.
"With the growth in popularity of the Kitenge fabric on the international fashion scene, the main objective of the Kitenge Fashion event was to celebrate and embrace the Kitenge fabric as a piece of our culture and support entrepreneurs, especially young and upcoming designers and artists," said Grace Makosewe, Nairobi VIP's creative director.
Ohangla musician, Makadem, famous for his humorous and witty lyrics in addressing social-economic problems gave a brilliant performance.
