CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: GTBANK/BRITISH COUNCIL-LAGOS FASHION & DESIGN WEEK TO TRAIN FASHION FILMMAKER

The headline sponsor for Lagos Fashion and Design Week, GTBank in partnership with British Council has
 opened applications for filmmakers interested in exploring fashion as a theme and adding range to their body of work. The fashion film workshop will take participants through the central aspects of the fashion filmmaking process. The workshop will be facilitated by Grace Ladoja and will begin on September 9, 2013.
Guaranty Trust Bank Lagos Fashion and Design Week with British Council has recognised the need to nurture and grow talents, particularly in the fashion industry, and provide them with the right tools to simultaneously grow the Nigerian fashion industry and their business.

The workshop agenda includes: an illustrated introduction to film language using examples of fashion film; introduction to planning, shooting and editing a fashion film; participants then plan, film and edit a simple sequence.

The workshop is open to filmmakers and their teams which can include editor and director of photography/lighting technician and art director. Each selected filmmaking team will work with a design team comprising fashion designer, stylist, hair/makeup stylist, and experienced filmmakers, especially those interested in producing short films and experimenting in the genre.

There will also be master classes on fashion as business, and designing a collection for shortlisted 20 fashion designers from the Young Designer of the Year category scheduled from September 16-23, 2013. The master classes will be led by Jake Leith, head of Fashion & Business Development, Brighton University, UK, and Julianna Sissons, lecturer, Fashion & Textile Design, Brighton University, UK.
